Instagram and Snapchat weren’t around (this was 2009…). I avoided every college senior’s biggest fear – what am I going to do after college. Mike had taken a role with the San Diego Sports Commission and brought me over with him. I met and worked with a gentleman named Mike Kitts, a sponsorship account executive for the Athletic Department, and that relationship would be the next jumping off point for my career. I didn’t care what the job was, didn’t know what exactly the Marketing interns did, but I wanted to get my foot in the door.įast forward two years later and I’m graduating from SDSU after two years as a Marketing intern. Schnall pointed me towards the Marketing Department because they were looking for interns. Athletic Director of Operations Steve Schnall’s office at SDSU and my professional (and personal) life took a turn down this path. I was a finance major at the time (freshly switched from accounting…) and called around to local teams looking for an internship. I made the decision after my sophomore year at SDSU that I wanted to work in sports – I didn’t know in what, but I knew that was the subject matter I wanted to be around. My career started as an intern in the San Diego State Athletic Department. Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Deleon.Ĭhristian, please share your story with us.
